Since the I century BC, people have used wigs and hairpieces as an alternative that is still adopted to today for different reasons. Some of them are fashion, costume, disease or any other personal cause. Whatever the reason, there are all kinds of types, colors, and varieties of wigs in the market to please any taste.

The first people to make wigs were the Egyptians, they wore them in special occasions and to protect themselves from the sun, because men generally shaved their head. They were specialized in making natural wigs; they mixed palm fibers, black sheep wool, and other materials.

Nowadays, the techniques used for making wigs are completely different from those used in the past, but they have the right thickness, color and texture. The process is industrialized, although there are still some professionals who do the  job manually. Whatever type they might be, they are put on by exfoliating the scalp, then, using a very fine elastic layer, the hairs are attached. Hairpieces must be replaced every month; however, wigs can be worn like caps, and washed with any shampoo and cold water. It’s quite simple.

There are international organizations that collect hair, so that wigs and hairpieces can be made out of it, and then donated to patients who undergo treatments that cause hair loss. Many more people are touched by this situation, so they let their hair grow to make donations, especially to help children who suffer from cancer. They also promote festivals where haircuts are done for free.

Some wigs are undetectable. These are mostly worn by celebrities and they are certainly hard to spot even from short distances. The meshes are made with a semi-transparent synthetic material, invisible when put over the scalp. When those wigs cover the forehead, they look completely natural and when mixed with the person’s natural hair, you are not able to tell it’s actually a wig.

This is what makes the difference when you compare the new techniques to the old ones. They make us look spectacular from any angle, and if they are placed right, nobody will notice it’s not your hair.

You can find hairpieces of any kind in the market: long hair, short hair, medium-length hair, very long hair, straight hair, wavy hair, afro, black hair, brown hair, blonde hair, even blue and white hair, with or without bangs, natural or synthetic, however you like. Some have an anti-slip, which avoids unwanted surprises caused by a storm, sudden movements or strong wind.
