Many people wonder what the Kybalion is, what it represents and what principles or values it supports, so it is convenient to take a tour of the ancestral beliefs that have led man to rummage through the mysterious path to truth, which has different nuances according to different cultures and religions around the world.

In this way, this term is unknown to many people, although its principles may be familiar to our readers because it is a very old book, which contains philosophies and principles that we will explain in this article.

Consequently, we will begin by expressing that within the mysteries that man has wanted to decipher over time, we find a series of beliefs that since ancient times, different civilizations have addressed from their religious, esoteric, humanist, orthodox perspectives, among others. Therefore, the women and men of the 21st century have had access to a large amount of information, which they process and interpret according to their own criteria, either from a collective position because they belong to some group or institution, or from a position clearly individual.

Inquiring into history, we can say that what the kybalion is can be explained in accordance with the beliefs and approaches of the hermetic tradition, which is the basis of Western esotericism and has remained in force today from its Egyptian and Greek origins, becoming an important element within our culture.

In this way, the hermetic tradition, according to the known stories, begins with the arrival in Egypt of an avatar of the Thoth, considered as a spiritual master which descended from the higher spheres to guide humanity and, according to the Greeks, was called Hermes Trismegisto, a term that means “the three times initiated, messenger of the gods”. According to the stories that the Greeks and the Egyptians were making for centuries, Hermes wrote 42 books, in which he expressed all his knowledge, including the basic principles of the Kybalion.

Likewise, we must mention that this tradition is evident in the Greek writings of Orpheus, Pythagoras and Plato and the Egyptian hieroglyphics, where the existence of the divinity Thot-Hermes and its philosophical projection that reaches our days is reflected, and that is part of Western thought. This hermetic tradition is characterized by its versatility and difference with the rigid approaches of other dogmatic traditions, also discussing the legality of these with respect to the reintegration of the True Man and his supra-human possibilities.

This book whose content has been discussed and analysed a lot by thinkers of different cultural and religious disciplines is supported by a Western esoteric tradition, which includes equally controversial and interesting philosophies, such as mysticism, reincarnation, occultism, magic and Hellenism, that has been made possible thanks to a process of dissemination that at the beginning of time was oral, passing from one individual to another through the word, so that the essence of their proposals was not lost.

In this way, it was spread by pharaohs, sages and priests, who had the iron belief of these philosophies that explain the origin of life, the importance of energetic vibrations in the changing processes of humanity and in the existence of other lives in other dimensions.

On the other hand, the seven principles or axioms which explain coherently what the Kybalion is start with the principle of mentalism, which explains that everything in the universe is mind, so that the realities we know happen thanks to the power of the mind, and everything that is thought creates a reality, a situation, a circumstance; it creates matter, energy and vibrations that make the world be seen as we know it.

The second principle of kybalion is “correspondence”, through which it is explained that “as it is above, it is below, as it is below, it is above”, manifesting itself in the physical, mental and spiritual planes.

The principle of vibration is one of the principles that explains the mobility of everything that is in the universe, since according to this philosophy nothing is still; even if it seems so, everything moves and everything is full of vibrations that originate life and matter.

In addition, there is a principle of “polarity”, through which it is explained that everything is double in the universe, and everything has two poles that are opposite, as we know the positive pole, since the negative pole exists; just as there are similar ones, there are antagonists, but in the end these are the same since according to these beliefs, the opposites are identical in nature, but they are different in the levels or degrees, so all truths are half-truths and all paradoxes can be reconciled.

Next it is the principle of “rhythm”, through which it is explained that everything in the universe flows and flows back because everything has its periods of advance and retreat, everything that goes up goes down, that is, what goes up also goes down. In this way, a movement occurs as the derivative of the pendulum, which moves to the left and to the right in the same way, thanks to the compensation that is produced.

The kybalion also includes within its seven principles the very named and popularly known as the principle of “Cause and effect” which is based on the fact that every cause carries with it an effect and every effect has its cause. Hence everything that happens in the universe takes place according to this principle or law, so according to these approaches there is no chance, but causality; there are several planes of causality, but definitely nothing escapes this law of cause and effect.

Finally, we have the principle of “gender” that, according to these approaches, exists everywhere since everything that exists in the universe has its masculine and feminine principle at the same time; manifesting this principle itself in all planes. It should be noted that, in the physical plane, gender is related to sexuality, but it also exists in other planes, represented in other ways and circumstances.

This is how explanations emerge that go beyond the religious paradigm of some religions that consider that they have the absolute truth about the origin of man, of his life on this plane, and they even state what will happen to him when he dies. From these religious ideologies it is tried to answer the questions that everybody asks: where do I come from, who am I, what mission do I have to fulfil in this life, and where will I go after I die?

From the perspective of astrology, based on a knowledge of the cosmos, of universal energy, the very discussed and controversial theory of relativity that explains, in turn, the presence of black holes, of big bang, parallel worlds, among other interesting topics, that in other articles we will bring up, the world and the life of the human being on planet earth are conceived as a necessary transition of each entity to later move to another plane, where supposedly he will have another type of experience.

Among the elements that we must mention in this way of explaining the life and functioning of the universe, there are basic principles explained in the book “Kybalion”, which start from the fact that everything is mental from a perspective of vibration, polarity, rhythm, correspondence, gender, cause and effect.

In this way, there are room for some well-known approaches and theories such as reincarnation, the existence of karma, the importance of energetic vibrations in our bodies in the form of the so-called chakras, which are related in turn to each part of our organism, and which we can balance using energy forms through mantras, images, meditations, among other efficient techniques to evolve as human beings, and which highlight the importance of mental power and the law of cause and effect as principles that explain why what happens what happens in our lives.

From these approaches, we find the coincidence of these principles with the topics discussed above and makes us understand that everything is energy in the universe, which flows and flows back from the perspective of correspondence and polarity, providing us with useful tools to influence positively in our life decisions and the opportunities that we can propitiate through the power of our minds.

Undoubtedly, the principles of kybalion make clear some mysteries, explaining in a simple way how the functioning of our bodies, minds and spirits is inside and outside this third dimension; but its existence remains controversial because it takes many conventional ideas out of context that have been used since ancient times to explain the existence of human beings on the face of the earth. Therefore, it is a question of each person to look for the way to light that makes him feel better about himself and the world.

However, our objective is to present you with explanations from a different life perspective, so that you put on the table the different alternatives that are at your disposal, and with all the information in your hands, you can make your own interpretation and reflection that guides you; it is even advisable to keep on researching, reading and searching for people with greater knowledge that can provide you with greater knowledge and experiential experiences that nourish your mind and your spirit.

In the end the decision to believe or not is in your hands, but the important thing is not to stay with a single explanation, to open our minds and hearts to approaches and theories that go beyond the context we know, and if our beliefs finally prevail, at least we have given ourselves the opportunity to go a little beyond our system of beliefs and ideals of life.
