In Venezuela, the South American country, lie the cradles of many wonders of nature, like the majestic Angel Falls or the warm Médanos de Coro National Park; also its dramatic and varied landscapes. But today we know about the history of a very distinctive people of this country, located in the Aragua state, called Tovar colony, capital of the municipality Tovar. This beautiful city is considered as the small Caribbean Germany for its amazing similarity in culture, gastronomy, landscapes, climate and their welcoming homes in the form of the European country cottages.
To fall in love a little more, we need to know part of its history. This community was founded on April 8, 1843 by a group of immigrants from Baden, an independent state in Germany, and some Dutch citizens. These people were mainly brought by the Venezuelan Agustin Codazzi and Alexander Benitez in order to exploit the territory for better industrial and agricultural growth. For this they must sing a contract and finance the transfer of immigrants to land donated by a man named Manuel Felipe Tovar; was his owner, and this way settle the future colony of Germans. It was subsequently considered a tourist area in 1964.
Since then, this area was adapted to their German own culture, becoming an attractive and different place to visit in Venezuela. There you will see breathtaking landscapes and warm and will welcome you cozy restaurants. You’ll sense the sweet aroma of the most delicious hot chocolate with whipped cream, combined with the Black Forest cake of all flavors. Besides the tastiest Polish and German sausages you ever tasted, along with the friendliness and hospitality of its employees.
The place also offers incredible handmade designs characteristic of this region, the warmer and comforting to stay inns and hotels, and the promise of spend a few relaxing days. Among the inns they are: Río Tuy inn, Casa Victoria, Kleindorf hotel, among others.
As a curiosity, we can say that in this town created the first Venezuelan craft beer.
