The beautiful crown Star of the Universe is one of the jewels that is part of the collection of tiaras that have been used in one of the most important beauty contests in the world, Miss Universe; in which hundreds of women from different countries of the world participate to demonstrate their physical beauty, intelligence, social sensitivity, attributes, abilities; among other several categories that are taken into account to define the winner.
Over time, different tiaras have been used in the proclamation of the winner, in some cases this change has been due to the need to modernize the image of the contest, in other cases it has been for style, comfort and practicality to carry the piece, the tiara has also been modified as part of the negotiation related to the venue where the contest will be held at that time.
Well, this crown used in the period from 1954 to 1960, was the third change of tiara made by the contest. This jewel is set in a frame of platinum and gold with more than a thousand pearls grown in the East, as if this were not enough, it also has several black pearls. This crown stopped being practical due to its high cost since, the winners could only wear it few times and always with a bodyguard with them; this made it impossible for them to wear their crown in the multiple commitments acquired by the contest, in which they must make public presentations wearing the crown.
This crown was worn for the first time by American Miriam Stevenson, while the last one to wear it was also American Linda Bement since, after this year, she began to wear the “Rhinestones” crown.
