A beautiful set of gardens called “Gardens by the Bay” was inaugurated in Singapore in 2012, to fill the lack of tourist attractions and with the intention of awakening interests in tourists.
This park was created as a lung for the city and a place of recreation. It has three areas: the Central Garden, the East Garden and the South Garden, the last being the largest and the main one.
It has two large greenhouses and biodiversity called “Cloud Forest” and the “Flower Dome“, with a variety of 220,000 species in the area.
Many visitors feel transported to “Avatar” movie when they enter the Cloud Forest, a place that is immersed in intense fog that forces the visitors to discover the town slowly. In this area, you will find the wonderful Secret Garden, which is very cold, so it is recommended to wear appropriate clothing for that.
A sunnier area in this set of gardens is The Flower Dome. As its name indicates, it is full of flowers in different theme areas such as the Mediterranean Garden or the South African Garden, among others.
The most visited attraction in the South Garden is a suspended walk between the artificial “super trees,” called OCBC Skyway. This attraction is a huge tree-shaped concrete structure of up to 50 meters high that simulate vertical gardens and house a large number of climbing plants.
As it is a relatively new construction, it is not yet completely covered by vegetation, however with the passage of time, the plants are expected to fully cover the structure. This tour can be done in minutes, and it is 128 meters long. You must pay to enjoy the attraction.
Although there are areas that you must pay to visit, there are a lot of gardens that are free, such as the Malaysian Garden, the Indian Garden, the Colonial Garden or the Chinese Garden.
At nightfall, you can enjoy a light and sound show that takes place every day between 7:45 and 8:45 and can be enjoyed from anywhere in the area of the super trees. This show is free.
Within the complex, you will find a lot of restaurants with local food, as well as from other parts of the world. You can also enjoy cheaper options in the stalls around the place. It is important to note that smoking is prohibited anywhere in the park and pets are not allowed.
The Gardens by the Bay, are a memorable place that you must visit during your stay in Singapore, where you can enjoy different environments of climates and giant trees that will surprise you.
