Tuesday, January 12nd, 2016. The awards season has begun, and did so with one of the most important awards of all time, The Golden Globes. Here is the summary of a night full of humor.
The gala began with a monologue by the British comedian Ricky Gervais, who joked about the latest current events going on in the life of the celebrities. Then the celebration inaugurated with the award for Best Supporting Actress, whose winner was British actress Kate Winslet, with her role in “Steve Jobs”, a film which is said to be the most suitable to win this category this whole season.
One of the most emotional moments of the night was starred by Sylvester Stallone, who won the prize for Best Actor for his film “Creed”; in which it portrays Rocky, who helped his former rival Apollo Creed’s son recover. They gave him a standing ovation.
The Latinos made their presence felt in the event, first the Guatemalan Actor Oscar Isaac won, in the category for Best Actor for TV Movie or Miniseries for “Show Me a Hero”; in which he personifies Nick Wasicsko. Then the Mexican actor Gael García Bernal, won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical Comedy; for “Mozart in the Jungle”. Both Latin Americans won their first nomination. Later in the event, Inarritu won Best Director for his drama “The Revenant”.
Lady Gaga, won the award for best actress in a miniseries drama, through their involvement as Countess in “American Horror Story” on FOX. She received her award in tears and thanked the cast, who helped her build this magnificent character.
The event was long, approximately three-hour awarding outstanding actors and actresses who made their marks in the end of 2015. Still, it was a pretty entertaining show, with key moments of humor, as the intervention of Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt or with the participation of Eva Longoria and America Ferrara. Jim Carrey, had a small moment of sarcastic humor, referring twice to himself as Golden Globe winner.
The evening came to its end without much scandal, announcing the long-awaited best actor and actress. Best Actress in a Drama was taken by the young Brie Larson, for her role in “Room”; a dramatic film based on a book of the same name.
Leonardo DiCaprio, won the trophy for Best Actor in a Drama for his latest movie “The Revenant”, in the category of Best Motion Picture Drama tape. His speech was a thank you to those who made the project possible.
Golden Globe pre-assigned other acting awards encouraging excellence, giving glimpses of the possible actors who will make history next February 28th at the Kodak Theatre.
