Since ancient times different civilizations have had faith in the magic of stones, as symbols of power, light, harmony, wisdom and beauty. People believe that stones have, transmit, or receive energies that can be used for different purposes, either to cleanse our bodies from bad energies, or to attract positive energy. We can say they are catalysts, and in most cases, amulets.

If you study the culture adopted by different civilizations in each of the continents, you can see how the magic of  stones has had a variety of uses. In Egypt for example, lapis lazuli granted power. In China, jade is widely used to attract love and longevity. The Aztecs used obsidian for divination through mirrors. And in most of these societies, stones were also used as healing methods, and people used to wear them as an accessory of protection.

They can be used for many purposes, and they can come in different presentations. Some stones have the same effect whether they are carved or not, i.e. quartz; other stones are more powerful after they are polished or carved, i.e. granite; and some other stones like amethyst, for example, are more effective in their natural state. The state, its shape or color can vary in the magic of stones and this will have a consequence on its effectiveness or function.

Usually, opaque crystals (malachite, lapis lazuli, hematite…) receive more energy than what they transfer, and clear crystals (quartz, aquamarine, amethyst, and diamond) are emitters and regenerators.
