The Sistine Chapel is a famous building in Vatican City. It is a masterpiece devoted entirely to art, of great beauty and above all, unique in its style. The Vatican is a sovereign country located in the center of Rome, capital of Italy, and serves as home to the Pope.

The majesty of this place not only represents one of the most visited sites of great historical value as the Vatican is. In that place are made important ceremonies and events like the election of the pope. Entering this chapel provokes a series of mixed feelings, and that its beauty catches the eyes of all who visit. Totally restored in 1473 and completed nearly 10 years later, the structure is named after Pope Sixtus IV, and thanks to him the restoration began.

As it could not be other than Michelangelo, famous painter and sculptor of the time, and author of one of the masterpieces of Renaissance mural “The Judgment day”

The vault of the chapel is the main attraction, because in it are the images of the immense work. The paintings were made between 1508 and 1512, in order to replace the blue background and stars that were previously on the roof.

What is the mystery behind each of these paintings? First is the final judgment; however, it is believed that the various popes who were head of the Vatican during the time left something on that roof to will endure.  This masterpiece carries the secret history of the popes.

Although internally this building is of great architectural richness, outside it is not extravagant. The chapel is completely rectangular and of considerable height. It presents no ornament that highlights or large sculptures to draw attention. However, the big picture is still being studied by important personalities of culture, and many assumptions have been made about its completion

Visit it! Pull yourself findings because these paintings were made. It is a small country, but one full of mysteries.

    It is quite an overwhelming feeling to walk in the Sistine Chapel and observe the greatness of its paintings, a pleasure that should be admire for a long period of time so it can remain for good in our minds.
