Prague, an amazing cultural city that has heritage, beauty and many attributes that put it among the most popular tourist destinations. As capital of the Czech Republic, it gathers a vast repertoire of historical monuments and spaces beautifully designed to make it a true wonder.

Located on the banks of the Vltava River, this beautiful city of bridges and architectural works, also known as “The City of a hundred Towers” or “The Golden City”, is a complete enjoyment for the senses of any traveler. Its historic center became a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1992, and how wouldn’t it? This jewel located in the heart of Western Europe has positioned itself among the 20 most visited cities around the world.

As an important cultural and political center since the 9th century, it is considered one of the most influential capitals in Europe throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Prague has a rich heritage along its length, with a peculiar medieval environment typical of the Bohemian region, which has survived the worst of the two world wars, along with the Nazi dictatorship, after which it remained in Soviet control until the Velvet Revolution and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The city itself is a huge museum difficult to travel in a short time, so it takes several days to enjoy its attractions, among which are several classic references of Central Europe. Let’s check out some of them:

Prague Castle: This was not built with the typical appearance of a fortification, but with the  design of a palace, with towers and buildings that make it the largest castle in the world. Around that is where the growth of the city began, and that is currently the residence of the President of the Czech Republic.

Powder Tower: This is part of the Prague Castle but stands out above the other buildings that comprise it. It was built in the fifteenth century to fortify the castle, later becoming its powder store that ended up being the laboratory of the Alchemists of King Rodolfo II.

Prague Astronomical Clock: This wonder of design is the most famous medieval clock in the world. It was built in 1410 by Hanus, a master watchmaker, and later perfected by Jan Taborsky in the sixteenth century.

Vrtba Garden: A green space worthy of a fairy tales town. This small baroque garden is a jewel for its statues and sculptures perfectly distributed among the ornamental vegetation.

So, there is no doubt that this amazing metropolis has maintained its charm and grandeur over the centuries without losing its brightness, so it is a must see for any traveler that visits the Bohemian region, because Prague has a very well deserved title of “Golden City”.
