Monday, 14 December 2015. The past week took place in country the long-awaited Summit about Climate Change, with the purpose of reaching binding and conclusive agreements on the part of all countries invited; to reduce polluting emissions to the atmosphere from the year 2020. In response to this, one of the agreements is to take international actions to keep the increase of the average global temperature in two degrees Celsius.
Representatives from more than 190 present countries, they want to do something really huge; reducing carbon dioxide emissions caused by human activity, responsible of the global warming that is destroying ecosystems and causing rises in sea level in some localities of Planet Earth.
The economist and expert in climate Lord Nicholas Stern, noted the urgency for the corporate world to reconcile an international agreement to cut carbon dioxide emissions; since those who now make significant investments, will have much more confidence in that in the future will be profitable. On the contrary, if the projects of the moment do not have as target the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions; it will lead to major financial risks.
For their part, the President Barack Obama and the Chinese president Xi Jinping; they are committed to working closely to reach a global climate agreement, to that the world will achieve cope with the effects that result from climatic changes in the last decades.
On the other hand, on the outskirts of where they were undertaking the relevant discussions; thousands of activists extended a long red flag as a symbol of the red lines that the negotiators must not cross in the search of the coveted international agreement to combat global warming. They also requested help for the poorest countries that are trying to reduce such emissions, facing the devastating consequences of climate events occurred in recent years.
The summit discussions were scheduled for end on Friday. However, these were extended until the Saturday, but in spite of this, most of the participants did not expressed discontent. As is well known, to reach ambitious and important agreements at the global level, requires time for dialog and negotiations.
Thus, while is discussed again and again the urgent need to take drastic measures in search of preserving the environment; the Earth is dying begging for a conquest of conservationist consciousness toward ensuring not only the survival of the present generation but also future generations. Finally, every inhabitant of this planet can contribute in reaching these goals; assuming that the great changes begin with small efforts.
