Monday, January 11, 2016. In Taiwan, they have invented a new application that interprets the crying of a baby. For some, the initiative is fabulous and very helpful, but there have been many detractors who criticize it; considering that it dehumanizes the mother-child relationship at a vital stage of the human being. Let’s get to know what it is.
This innovative application -that can be downloaded directly to your smartphone- is designed to be able to identify or translate four different cries, according to the situation or circumstances in which the baby is going through.
The technology implemented to create this tool, has its foundation in medical studies about it. In this sense, pediatricians, specialists in the behavior of newborns; explain that it is very important that as parents they are able to identify the type of baby cries and the reasons that produce it, as this will allow you to cater to its needs as soon as possible.
Therefore, a child who feels loved; has ensured, in great measure, growth and development without complications. It has been determined that a sense of a protective environment; also has much to do with his future personality and behavior, making it a more confident human able to easily interact with other people.
To achieve use the application efficiently, after you download it to your smartphone; you must record the baby crying for 10 seconds. Upon completion, you will upload the file, such as if it were a voice note, to the application platform; which will automatically evaluated according to the indicators it comes with and gives a result.
One of the creators of this new invention, which is precisely a medical professional who specializes in the area of Pediatrics; confirmed that the application is able to determine with an accuracy of more than 90% the reasons why the baby is crying with four possible answers which are: hunger, need for a diaper change, sleep or some pain.
The app works thanks to the evaluation of thousands of crying babies, establishing parameters to differentiate each one; because as experts say, not every cry is the same and each one means a different thing. Hence the importance of identifying them.
Furthermore, the expert added that the effectiveness and accuracy of the response increases or decreases depending on the age of the baby. The answer will be more reliable for smaller babies; as the baby grows the app loses accuracy.
As discussed earlier in this article, for some this application takes away from the sensitivity form the contact that remains to be cultivated between parents and children, qualifying as a waste of time; because at least the mothers have an innate condition to identify what happens to their baby and what needs to be done without technological gadgets. What do you think?
