Namibia is a country located in the Southwest of Africa, with a young history which started in 1793, when the Dutch occupied the “Walvis Bay” city, a port region discovered in 1487 by the Portuguese navigator Bartholomew Diaz. It was a refuge for large boats; due to its maritime depths, rich in whales, which attracted ships and fishing vessels.
The importance of the port called the attention of the world powers, since the time of its discovery. A large number of settlers exploited the wealth and position of the area.
In 1815 with the union of the Dutch colony and the British, the fluvial locality began to be part of that territory. Then in 1840, it was colonized by the Germans; who took the entire province of Namibia, placing the name of the German Southwest Africa, designation abolished after the failure obtained in the First World War.
In the aftermath of the events, South Africa administered by order of the League of Nations a provisional mandate; being declared later illegal by the International Court of Justice and the United Nations (UN). Its illegality was based on racial regimes, forcing amounts of native people to move to other places where extreme poverty prevailed; in turn Europeans expropriated the best sites provided with farms and fertile land.
Under the international coercion, South Africa leaves the country and in 1989 this afflicted nation, choose for the first time in history a president. Since its independence, this territory became activist body of many multinationals organizations, with the purpose of seeking help and strengthen links of cultural, social and economic agreement.
Namibia’s economy is driven with mining, dedicated to the exploitation of uranium, copper, tin, lead and diamonds. The fisheries and some agricultural areas, are of medium importance to its heritage. The Union of European countries is the partner of most relevance for Namibia, establishing trade agreements of great importance at the present. Similarly, it maintains very good economic relations with China; increasing extraordinary investments.
However, its economy is linked to South Africa, regardless of all the previous events. Geographically, the central plains are arranged as an intermediary of transport for cities with more population in the north of the Southern African country, where it comes from almost the total imports for food of Namibia.
It is expected that Namibia in the next few years become the largest exporter of uranium in the entire world; accrediting it as a promising and thriving country. Therefore, the areas with the greatest economic growth in the region, are dedicated to the conservation of wildlife, the best natural treasure composed by the imposing desert, with wild landscapes and majestic animals.
Namibia is a spectacular country, which opens the doors for you to know it and enjoy an extreme adventure with its unique history, and the modern of many of its cities activated by its growing economy.
