Friday, 08 January, 2016. Michael Fassbender, is a 38-year-old actor. Who has slowly placed himself in Hollywood’s list of essentials. He is German, but has a mix of different nationalities; since he is of Irish blood and lives in London.
His first unforgettable appearance was in the movie 300, as Stelios, right hand to King Leonidas. In 2008, the drama movie “Hunger”, from Steve Mc Queen; gave him respect and admiration rights, thanks to his auctorial commitment to the dieting regimen for the character Bobby Sand, an active member of IRA, who put himself through a hunger strike for political believes.
On 2009, less tan half an hour of screen time gave him the spot light between the participants of inglorious Bastards from Quentin Tarantino, in the famous bar scene. The role opened his doors to participate in some of the more important movies leading him to the sci-fi saga Xmen; where he plays the youngest version of Magneto. In this point the actor could as of then choose his next steps.
In 2011, he played he’s best acting role up to the time in Shame, repeating director Steve Mc Queen; his interpretation was raw, visceral and with out a drop of shame. His capacity got him his first golden globe nomination as best actor. But his full frontal showing in the film cost him the academy award’s nomination. In thi same year he participated in Prometheus as Davis, an android; for this character it was important he didn’t show to much face expression and he accomplished this. The production was a prequel to the movie saga Alien, which will feature a new chapter in 2017 “Alien: Covenant”.
In the year 2012, he had his first academy award nomination as best leading role, for the drama movie, 12 years a slave; here he was, for the third time, under the guidance of Steve McQueen as a director. His character was despicable and cruel, the typical villain in an unfortunate story.
As time goes by, we have seen more and more of Fassbender; 2015 has turned him into an important actor; thank to his role as Steve Jobs, which points him towards the golden globe for best actor, and candidate to win the Oscar, even if the nominees have not been announced.
He also played Macbeth, a movie based in one of Shakespeare’s most intense plays, in which there is a conflict of power and human nature is displayed.
The actor has projects full with success and cultural resonance. Adding to it, we can be sure that he will soon get his acknowledgement for his capacity to transform into such complex characters, with his Michael Fassbender style.
