Love is one of the greatest feelings you can experience not only to others but to ourselves and everything around us. Throughout our lives we learn to recognize, develop and demonstrate it. This balance allows us to transform the way we see things from the warm side and also the way how the mood can influence the actions we perform every day.
There are methods that help us enhance that ability to give and receive love we all have, as in the case of the “Meditation,” which is an ancient technique of relaxation and deep thinking in line with our inner selves; calmly achieving to deal with our mind and emotions.
This is how we let love flow largely thanks to a type of meditation called Metta Bhavana, whose purpose is the cultivation and development of Universal Love. This ancient technique aims to consciously develop what we feel using words, memories or imagination; then cultivate it in our inner being. The Metta Bhavana, allows us to work mentally in the positive energies promoting our relationships with others and our environment, starting from the love for ourselves; avoiding conflicts and discarding our internal debates.
The development of emotions through Metta Bhavana, consists of five steps or stages:
- First stage, love for ourselves|: throughout the meditation we will focus first on our body and feelings; mentally repeating a positive phrase that makes us feel happy.
- Second stage, love towards a friend: at this stage we think of a good friend, someone that we appreciate, respect and love; thinking about their qualities and strengthening the bonds of friendship, wishing that they are happy.
- Third stage, love towards a neutral person: here we will bring to our mind a person that we have no special feelings, that is neither our friend or foe; wishing with a positive phrase that be well and everything flow positive in their life.
- Fourth stage, love towards a difficult person: In this stage is to think of a person you have a conflict or that we do not like their behavior; we explore our feelings toward her and wish them all the good that the universe can offer them.
- Fifth stage, love towards all living beings: we will focus on all living beings capable of feeling emotions, projecting toward them all our feelings of solidarity, love and tolerance.
In short, applying this meditation daily, move away negativity and we can move through life in harmony, feeling ourselves complete and at peace. Life is one and it is better to live from love, because that is how we transform the world.
Once I got in touch with the true sense of meditation I realize what a great connection I had with the people around me, and I became at peace with myself and thankful for the things I accomplished. This is worth trying.
