Tuesday, January 12th 2015. Due to the war situation in Syria, the needs the Syrians are facing are ever greater. A conflict that started in 2011 and is still ongoing.)

The most terrible thing about this reality is the unstoppable innocent deaths toll; most of them children and women. It is so grave that the United Nations by March 2015; estimated that around 220.000 people had perished in Syria in the four years of war they’ve had, although evidently, in the present this figure is much larger.

Many sources have expressed that the people are resorting to eating the skin of various animals and boiled tree leafs to be eaten as soup, due to their desperation; but now they are much harder to come by due to the winter season, causing a slow death among the inhabitants, either of malnourishing or starvation.

However, beyond the need to savor food; it’s the urgent need for medicine what greatly ails the inhabitants of Madaya. This city’s terrible situation is so vast, that the food prices are going through the roof; much higher than in Damascus.

In this regard, the UN has requested the Syrian government access in order to grant humanitarian help in Madaya; as well as the Foua and Kefraya cities, after having received the incessant death toll in the last few months. Indeed, the support arrived the past January 11th of this year; with the visit of two convoys of over 44 vehicles with started on the path to deliver food, medicines and clothes.

However, while all this happened, the number of children, adults and young people dying kept growing; which is why the humanitarian support must be provided continuously and constantly in order to avoid complications, anguish, sadness and regret.

Over the next days, the humanitarian service presence is expected so that they may progressively quell the starvation; fostering an atmosphere of peace and decreasing the death numbers.
