Each year, the delivery of the highest award of the music world is made, referring to the Grammy Awards; an event which is announced on Monday December 7th, together with the list of nominees for the next edition.
The nominees are surprising. We started with 11 nominations for the rapper Kendrick Lamar, who competes in more categories than any other. His album is called: To pimp a butterfly, and it was released in early 2015. It is also nominated for song of the year with Allright, the most famous single of the disc.
Kendrick is being closely followed by the 25 years old pop singer, Taylor Swift; who with her album 1989, is positioned as one of the most popular artists of 2015. This album is different from the previous ones, because it is separated from her old country style. This reinvention can be seen in her theme Blank Space which is competing as best single. The singer has seven nominations.
The R & B sensation of the moment, the Weeknd also shares seven nominations, with his latest album Beautiful behind the madness. The Canadian singer also shared a nomination for best song with his mega hit Can’t feel my face. One of the most played songs of summer.
In the most outstanding categories is Album of the Year, in addition to the three artists above, share a nomination with Alabama Shakes, the group of independent music and their album Sounds and colors. And finally, Chris Stapleton with his musical masterpiece, Traveller.
This category can give us a big surprise, since Arcade Fire in 2011 stood with their album The Suburbs, a triumph that no one expected at the time or Amy Winehouse’s album, Back to Black, didn’t win the award. What we do have certainty know is the large number of important artists that will be presented that night.
The bet for music in Spanish:
Venezuela’s super band Guaco is nominated in the category of Best Tropical Latin Album, with their album Present Continuous, category in which they compete against Ruben Blades, Victor Manuelle, Juan Luis Guerra and 4.40, and finally, against Jose Alberto “El Canario “. The competition is tough, because the level of popularity of the artists; but for the Venezuelans should be a category worthy to be proud of, as the Grammy that are originally held in the United States, are more difficult by the language barrier of Native Americans.
