You have probably heard the expression “Karma”, for example when something bad happens you give all the weight of blame to the word that in most of the cases the real meaning is unknown. Many books have been written with the explanation and history of the word, but in short all these writings agree on one thing, which is that this expression is linked directly to Law of Cause and Effect, which states that our physical actions, verbal and mind are causes, and all our experiences are their effects.
The word karma means ‘action’ and refers mainly to the physical, verbal and mental actions. The actions leave imprints or impressions made in your mind, very subtle that over time they produce their results. Another important thing you should know is that this is based on the belief that human beings, individually, had one or more past lives and we are carrying them over the years and after death.
The law of karma explains why each individual has a mental disposition, a unique physical appearance and experiences. These are the effects of the countless actions that you have done in the past; since there is not two persons who had carried out the same actions in past lives, no one can have the same mental states and physical experiences of others.
Each being has its own karma. Some people are healthy and others suffer even incurable diseases. Some have physical attraction and others not. Some are always happy and satisfied easily, while others tend to be moody and are never satisfied. Some people easily understand the meaning of spiritual teachings while others find them difficult and obscure.
The point to consider is that if you have a firm belief in the existence of Karma as part of everyday life, then you must understand that this is the result of your actions. Students of this philosophy ensure that actions are impure because your mind is contaminated by the inner poison of self-grasping. This is the main reason, according to experts, for which suffering is experienced. This is caused by our own actions or karma and is not a punishment imposed by anyone.
You suffer because you have committed many negative actions in past lives. The origin of these evil deeds are their own delusions such as anger, attachment and self-grasping and ignorance. So your actions or decisions in the present will depend on your future.
Annie Besant in her book Reincarnation and Karma says that to find true happiness in mind is necessary to eliminate self-grasping, in this way, the actions will be pure and therefore the beings around your will also be so, will not remain any trace of suffering, impurity or difficulties.
