Sun, sand, heat, swimsuit, these are all words we associate with holidays. As long as the central star of our universe brings light and heat we feel at summer. Our sun provides us with multiple benefits. Taking sun for 5 or 10 minutes, two or three times a week, can recharge our vitamin D deposits. Our sun gives us so many benefits that often people who live in sunny climates pose less risk of suffering certain diseases.

However, it could also harmful, due to direct or indirect effects of its rays. Also, high temperatures, change in eating habits and activities done under the sun can motivate uncomfortable situations to happen. It is important to know these risks and to know how to prevent them from ever taking place.

Since your face is the first thing people always see, you should use strong sunscreen constantly; choose one that suits the sensitivity of your skin. Sunscreen must be applied 20 minutes before any sun exposure, this way your skin can absorb it. Furthermore, apply it every two hours. If you are going to spend several hours in the sun, putting it just once won’t do. Another tip is to avoid sun exposure during 10 am and 16 pm, at this time its rays are stronger.

Fluid intake is also very important. Make sure you drink enough water throughout the day. Drink water and other liquids as regularly as possible, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Remember, water hydrates better than energy drinks, and eat foods with high water content, and avoid excess alcohol consumption.

Also, pick cloths with UV protection. You can find these at any sporting or outdoor stores. Look for the label that indicates they have UV protection.Preferable, avoid the sun when your hair is wet or damp, ultraviolet rays do more damage to your it when it’s wet than dry. Moreover, moisturize your skin properly after sunbathing, take a shower and apply proper skin creams.

Other moisturizing and nutritious option is drinking natural juices. A simple fruit or vegetables juice daily will give your skin the antioxidants it requires. Don’t forget to add water to your diet as well as other important nutrients, such as: potassium, sodium, magnesium and others that give your body the adequate hydration it needs before sun exposure. All these will protect you during any hot season.

Enjoy the pleasures of our sun. Recharge your body with the astonishing energy of sunlight and always look beautiful. But, above all, remember that you must be well hydrated.
