Believe it or not, technological advances and app’s usage has extended to several areas, to the point that they almost control our lives. Some of them, generating benefits in making quicker and better every day’s duties, saving money, control our health, buy and sell possessions and even finding our “life partner”. But what would you think if I tell you that some of them, have been also created with not so positive objectives and consequences. So, if you are scared of ghosts, let me tell you that now they come in apps. But don’t be afraid and keep reading.
As mothers we always try to know every step our kids go, above all if they are teenagers, because in this age and stage of their lives, they are vulnerable to any influence around them. Several decades ago, our mothers could feel save only with the fact of having us home, avoiding and controlling our dates, friends and tv shows.
With technological advances and Smartphone’s usage that allows them to do almost anything, nowadays mothers have a really hard job, because, this time youngster don’t need to leave home to be exposed to an endless amount of situations that put in danger their personal security.
Everything is possible throughout their smartphone, sending pictures and any type of files, saving them without being able to be seen by anybody, despite we check even in the last device’s corner. How to do this? Through the use of ghost apps which “disguise” the files putting another name and requiring a password to get access to the content.
Also a very unhealthy game or competition, called “Sexting”, in which at least 100 teenagers from a school in Colorado, USA got involved with this and putted everything under the magnifying glass. In this fact, teenagers from 12 years old, exchanged photos with highly sexual content, adding points for expositions quantity. That’s how they avoided their parents and teachers, with the use of “ghost apps”.
These dangerous tools are called “Vaults” or “Trojan’s Horses”, since, besides that they hide files of any type, what it shows you is not what it really is. Some of them look like computers and they even work as them, but when you put the password, the hidden files show up.
As mothers we have to be careful. If you find in your son’s smartphone, files that are repeated or that he or she had acquired unusual apps, suspect that something might be happening. However, experts say that is really difficult to catch them, so, the best advice, open your communication channels with your kids, explain them the consequences of committing these type of acts, above all, give them trust and lots of love, and that’s how maybe ghosts will leave.
We certainly should be careful with these type of apps specially if our children are expose to such materials. We should be very attentive.
