Nature certainly offers endless geological formations. This is particularly about stones, also called rocks, which should not only be seen as a simple mineral, but as a structure which composition has been around since ancient times.

They are minerals of great utility that, from the beginning of history were used to develop various tools and even as a connotation in Egyptian times, when the pharaohs used it to show their greatness or superiority with gems or precious stones.

So there is a great diversity of rocks in the world, each with a special characteristic, appealing colors, hard or  soft, expensive  or not, and more. That is why there are so many classifications, and the most accepted one is to divide them according to their origin or nature, and within these, the various subtypes or rocks are grouped by names. They are:

Igneous rocks: those that originate through a slow process from the core or mantle of the earth, result of magma and gases. Among these are: Pumice, Granite, Basalt, among others.

Sedimentary rocks: they are a result of external factors on a surface, such as water, wind, etc. that slowly alter the surface. These are: limestone, sandstone, and others.

Metamorphic rocks: those that arise under new conditions (e.g. high temperature), conditions that did not exist in the beginning, but make these stones progressively adapt to them as they appear, i.e., they go through a period of change. Here they are: Marble and Quartzite.
