From Tanzania, the first findings were recently given in 1967 in this country. It was named as “Gemstone of the twentieth century”, to celebrate with pride its discovery, increasing the popularity of the African country. In October of 2002, the Jewelry Trade Association of America (AGTA) announced that tanzanite had joined to the zircon and turquoise in the list of birthstones, in December.
Besides its eccentricity and beauty, this gemstone is provided with numerous properties, also called stone of sufferers or zoisite, was used in the Ancient Greece as a gift to unload problems and worries from people. This stone allows to the person to enter into peace with herself, establishing a connection from within; also transmutes negativity, and helps to boost physical energy, relieving lethargy and inactivity. It was released to market as tanzanite by “Tiffany & Co” who wanted to take the rarity of the gem for its distinctive translucent color of tricolor crystals and blue-violet hue, in some very rare ( within the rarity of the stone) is found: brown, yellow, and amber; in both cases according to the crystal orientation, “Tiffany & Co” was in charge of marketing it in the world, there is a commercial source of tanzanite as quality gem, its production is extremely limited, and as such the jewels adorned by this magnificent gemstone.
