When it comes to beauty, most of us see it on subjective terms. Some see it as the sum of certain outer and inner characteristics, which reveal a greater or lesser degree of beauty, all depending on how one person perceives another. This is particularly so in women; however, this is a view that has evolved alongside humanity itself, until today.

We all worship beauty so much that society encourages us to believe that beauty is found only on the outside, thus creating a sense of fear of losing it with age. This is why all women´s main concern can be summarized in one question: “When will I begin to age?”.

It is impossible to determine the exact moment a person will start ageing, since it will depends on several factors: genetics, habits and lifestyles, your environment, drug use and smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, lack of exercise, stress, worry, poor diet and sleeping disorders. All these are influential aging factors.

Also, combining several of these factors could accelerate your ageing process, which on the contrary of growth, is a natural phenomenon not scheduled to occur on a precise moment. This is why some start ageing in their 20s, 40s or 50s, while for others this process could take more time, making them look younger than they appear.

It is important that we all know that as human beings, both men and women, have 4 ages: chronological age, biological age, psychological age and social age.

Our chronological age is determined by the sum of the years that we have lived through since our birth. While the biological age is the functional age of our body, specifically tissues and cells, compared to our standard aging patterns that corresponds to our age. As for our psychological age, this is determined by our mental age, which is related to each person´s psychological, cognitive and emotional traits. Finally, our social age, this age is marked by special circumstances, whether economic, workwise and family, for example: how marriage transforms a young woman into a Mrs.

Now that we know these ages, it important to note that the relationship or combination of our biological, psychological and social ages is known as functional age. Reason why knowing and determining each will help you make better decisions that will allow you to have a healthier lifestyle before you reach an old age. And by doing so, you will be prepared and will enjoy this stage of our life.

While we do not know for a fact when exactly we will grow old, the important thing for us to remember is that we must live life to the fullest. Enjoy every stage of your life and cultivate not only outer but inner beauty. Outer beauty is temporary, but inner beauty has no expiration date.

I truly don’t think it does, we are beautiful regardless our age, as long as we keep fit and we take care of ourselves.
