Facing the threat of foreign bodies, all human beings have natural defenses that keep us protected from the action of infectious agents such as viruses, bacteria and fungi. However, there are occasions in which the immune system is unable to recognize certain organs and tissues that are part of the body, treating them as outsiders; attacking them and even destroying them by mistake.

This adverse action, are diseases known as autoimmune diseases, which if not treated in time, they can seriously jeopardize the health since there is no cure for them yet, although they can be controlled. Its symptoms are varied, including among the most common: fatigue, fever, muscle aches, malaise, depression, or rash. But one of the signs with lots of strength in the detection and identification of this disease is inflammation.

Currently, more than eighty autoimmune diseases with symptoms that vary according to the affected organ are unknown. The most important are:

Lupus: This is a chronic disease that causes inflammation and pain in the muscles and joints, but it can also affect the kidneys, skin, brain and other organs.

Alzheimer: It is an irreversible degenerative disease that causes loss in the individual memory, and the difficulty to manipulate objects and communicate, among others.

Parkinson: Its a disease characterized by progressive disability caused in the person, who is unable to control their movements as it affected brain cells responsible for carrying out this function.

Rheumatoid arthritis: Is a disease that causes inflammation in the joints of knees, wrists, elbows, hands and feet, causing pain, difficulty in movement and even deformation of the joints.

Celiac disease: It is characterized by the inability of the stomach and intestines to tolerate foods containing gluten, causing diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and even weight loss.

According to the researchers, these diseases can be attributed to various factors, among which are: genetics 33%; while the remainder belongs to the environment, diets and lifestyles.

As a result, there is the theory that these diseases can be prevented or treated by consuming foods such as fish, seafood, cabbage, ginger, cod liver oil, liver, spinach, nuts and seeds. We also recommend taking an hour a day of sunlight, as its rays help to synthesize vitamin D, reducing the risk of multiple sclerosis; and it can be supplemented with food supplements, which help to balance the immune system. However, it is only a theory, so we should wait until it is confirmed or an effective treatment is discovered.

Remember that these diseases can strike anyone, so we must know and be alert to any symptoms, because if we discover any wrong answer of our body, with the help of a specialist, we can have an early treatment and prevent the fast progress of the disease which ends up affecting our quality of life.

Some of them are so mysterious and deadly at the same time that it is heartbreaking to realize any member of our family may be suffering from them. Specially because they do not have a cure. At least not yet. I truly hope that changes soon.
