Founded by Tsar Peter the Great on the Neva River, St. Petersburg is one of the largest cities in Europe, known as the open-air museum for the many parks, buildings, palaces, bridges, churches, museums and monuments that has in all its extension. The Church of the Savior on Blood: Also known as the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. It is considered one of the gems of St. Petersburg and the most striking building by its colorful outdoor; besides showing an impressive array of shapes, textures and unique designs in the world. But the interior is even more striking, as it not only stands out for the concavity of the domes, but also by the mosaics that decorate its walls, which cover an area of 7,000 square meters.
Hermitage Museum: It is the ideal destination for lovers of art and culture, is composed of six buildings and more than three million works of art that include: paintings, sculptures, coins, prints among others; making it one of the most important museums in Europe, but only 25% of the works are on display. But the most impressive is the design and decoration of the interior and exterior walls, worthy of a masterpiece.
The Peter and Paul Fortress: Located on the island “Zayachy” is one of the first buildings that were commanded to construct by Peter the Great, to protect the city against a possible Swedish attack during the Great Northern War. Stands out for its beautiful buildings, among which we can find: the Kresty Prison Museum, the House of the Commander, the Mint also the Peter and Paul Cathedral, where are the remains of the rulers of Russia before the revolution.
The Catherine Palace: Also known as summer palace of “Pushkin”, including parks and palaces that show us how royalty lived in Russia. The spaces that stand out are: the great Golden Hall, where 1,000 meters of mirrors, chandeliers and gilded frames merge into a luxurious decoration; and the Amber Room, where every centimeter of the walls is decorated with thousands of tiny amber panels.
