This alarm was turned on Thursday December 10th at 12:00 local time. About the measures to control pollution levels, include the closure of some schools in the area; the ban on heavy trucks passage; the temporary closure of factories and works considered contaminants such as steel mills and cement and automobile traffic control, allowing movement only in intermediate days, successfully reducing half the usual traffic.
However, although such measures were taken in order to protect the integrity and health of citizens; many were hostile to the regulations, regarding them as exaggerated and prolonged. This may be due to pollution levels recorded on Monday, December 7th, when the decision to activate the red alarm was taken- they were lower than registered last week, with levels up to 40 times higher than this week.
Nevertheless, the Chinese Government has defended his decision to mention that these measures were taken to prevent contamination levels continue to increase, and avoid unpleasant consequences.
They also say that this position ensures the current government really wants to do their part to fight the problem of environmental pollution.
These images work as an argument to the determination of the Chinese Government. Both photos show Tiananmen Square with just one month apart.
As noted in the first image, the plaza cannot be clearly seen because of the dense gray cloud that covers it. This difference doesn’t ger unnoticed, it’s alarming; it’s an unequivocal evidence of the damage that human activities have caused again to our beautiful planet which is dying due to lack of appreciation from us.
For several years, many international organizations have spoken in order to unite in efforts to encourage the ecological conscience worldwide, aware of the environmental impacts of industrial activities in the short, medium and long term.
But unfortunately, the need to produce and to achieve sustainable economies; always achieves to put on a side the urgent need to protect the environment.
