However, it was not until 1858 that he decided to create his own firm, opening its first store in the gallery of Valois in the royal palace in the center of Paris.
Nevertheless, the style and innovation of its creations would soon be recognized by the world of fine jewelry, and nine years later he won the gold medal at the International Exhibition of Paris, an award that would repeat in the edition of 1878. But these awards won’t be the only ones, as in the early 1890-1900 he also participate in several national exhibitions in Vienna, Antwerp and Philadelphia, where he obtained several medals and decorations.
One of the most important milestones in the history of the firm was written in 1893, when Boucheron became the first jeweler to open a store in the Vendȏme, a place considered as the benchmark of luxury in the Paris Square. Immediately, the number 26 of the square became the site most frequented by European royalty and high society personalities, to attract an exclusive clientele as Tsar Alexander III, Queen Isabella of Spain, the British royal family, and celebrities too wealthy as the Vanderbilts, besides of actresses like Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth Rockefeller, among others.
In addition to its prestigious clientele, Boucheron also would be released by the contribution to the world of watchmaking, thanks to its high-end models that allowed him to cement his reputation as “the jeweler of the time.” However, it would not be unique since his great love of nature would allow him to imitate it with great fidelity, being the precursor of art to transform precious stones into animals and plants. Among the most iconic pieces of the firm are: the snake necklace, gold fabric, the Reflect watch, the necklace without closing called “point d’interrogation” and the crown of pearls and diamonds of the Empress Alexandra.
