Monterrey, is the capital of Nuevo León State, located in the United States of Mexico. It is one of the most developed cities in the country, considered a pioneering business center in the industrial, economic and technological environment. Many Mexicans travel to Monterrey every day for business and work, it is common to come and go the same day as many corporations and ventures make life there, however, Monterrey is full of tourist attractions.
Buildings and museums, rural and archaeological zones, traditions and urban customs accompanied by gastronomy and nightlife are some of the elements that make Monterrey different.
One of the obligatory places to visit in Monterrey is the Metropolitan Cathedral of Monterrey, which is located next to the “heart of the city”, the Old District, which is the most representative area of the city. This historical temple was built throughout the 18th century and today it maintains its beauty and particularity of the neoclassical style combined with baroque. Among the most important works within the church, is the iconic oil painting called Las ánimas, which is usually contemplated and admired by hundreds of visitors.
Another iconic destination of the city is its “macrosquare”, place where the Government Palace of the State is located and a very modern atmosphere that is felt makes visitors feel that they are in a cosmopolitan city. This square is one of the largest in the world, deriving its very particular name.
Around the square we can find several tourist sites to visit, added to that in it we will find the famous Fountain of Neptune, which is a very attractive sculpture for art lovers. The icon of the city is the so-called “beacon of commerce” and it is also in the macro square. At night it is on and it is very common that people gather there to enjoy it.
We cannot go to Monterrey without making a trip to the Museum of Steel, Furnace 3, which is located inside the melting park of the city and every day there are different shows and interactive exhibitions to explain the operation of the steel industry in the city. This visit is a sight worth enjoying for all ages and is ideal for family sharing and teaching children.
Monterrey also has several parks and natural destinations ideal to be enjoyed by those who want to get away a bit from the hurried and typical dynamics of large cities. Among the most famous and emblematic ones of this city it is the Cerro de la Silla, from which you can admire the whole city, its name is because from a distance it resembles a chair and it is usually visited by sportsmen who want to take a walk along the different roads that reach the old cable car and from there they contemplate the majesty of Monterrey.
Finally we find that this city has a great gastronomic and night life to be enjoyed by the whole family, offering from luxurious restaurants to taste the typical dish of the city that is “el cabrito”, which is a wood-fired roast seasoned with salt and marinated with typical species of the region; to places where you can enjoy live jazz shows and good cocktails.
