Instead of just providing a great list, the app uses Watson’s machine learning capabilities to pick out the trends, reveal why people are choosing that particular product or brand. The Watson Trend app breaks down the hottest holiday gifts into groups that are given a score based on the size of the conversation and rate of the conversation growth. The novelty of this application is the source for information regarding the tastes and trends in consumer buying, are by themselves, hence it is completely true and accurate; for anything created by advertising campaigns or manipulated or misleading analysis of sales.
Another particular feature is that the gift’s list may change throughout the holiday season, so for example on November 18th the most popular gift was the Apple Watch and now the app found that right now, LEGOs are the must-have toys for Christmas.
