The Amber Room is one of the most beautiful creations that could create the human being and make it part of a great story. Imagine a large hall as bright as gold; its beauty enchants anyone who has been lucky enough to visit it. Today is in St. Petersburg, located in the Catherine Palace, named as one of the most valuable rooms in the world for its architecture developed in Amber in 1701 by great German craftsmen, its value exceeds the price of gold and its construction took about six years to complete.

This room was made entirely with unique pieces of amber, gold, amazing mirrors and incrustation of precious stones. Its true origin, the Royal Palace is located in Berlin; also known as the Amber chamber. It was remodeled many times, until it become a fairly large chamber that was over fifty square meters; coming to own tons of amber, important figures from history were charmed by its brightness, designating it as the eighth wonder of the world.

Its intriguing story comes from its transfer, since after meeting in Berlin, was located at the residence of Tsar Peter, who had been struck with this; being Frederick William of Prussia, who decided give to him to strengthen relations between the two nations. This room was installed in the Catherine Palace in St. Petersburg (his current residence), this place was the summer home of the Russia Tsars, where they spend time and rest. The Amber Room was a monument of art, its beauty was well preserved for a long period despite wars and revolutions.

SALA

During World War II, the Soviet government tried to empty the Amber Room for transport it to Russia, as well as had been done with other works of great artistic value. This could not be fulfilled because with the passing of the years, the amber had weakened, which made moving its parts impossible without some of these to get damaged. A clever technique that they decided to use to try to keep it and avoid that was stolen, was to cover the Chamber, but it did not work, as the government of the Third Reich, had its eye on it long before this and already had a plan to steal the chamber.

As we can see this Amber Chamber has a lot of history in its path different hypotheses tell that its pieces were last seen on a German ship, but other legends indicate that this room was totally destroyed. Recently, in 2003, this was replaced by a copy in the Catherine Palace. Do you think that there are still pieces of this work of art in the world?
