Agate has been considered a mystical stone from ancestral times. Its name comes from the Achates river, currently called Dirillo river, located in Sicily, Italy, place where the first stones were found.

This precious stone was revered by ancient civilizations, who considered it as the stone of science. At that time, the “Agate of India” (name by which it was called in the region) was believed to have the virtue of healing eye problems. The “Egyptian Agate” was the best remedy against spider bites and scorpion stings.

In addition to being used in science, these formations of various microcrystalline quartz materialize in layers of many colors that are not very well contrasted. The plurality of colors appears because their structure and the number of inclusions in the mineral varies, so their properties change. However, in order to commercialize the agates, they are dyed in order to highlight their natural designs.  That way, more vivid colors and designs are obtained.

In the Islamic culture, agates are also highly valued stones that can be used in rings that are believed to protect those who wear it and guarantee longevity, among other benefits. In the Syrian Arab Republic, specifically in Aleppo, the largest city in that country, they use the name “Agates of the eye” due to its resemblance to the pupils of the eyes.

In the past, they were used as eye implants in the images of the gods or in the eye sockets of the mummies of ancient Egypt six thousand years before our era. For archaic civilizations, the agate was a window open to the world of the Gods through which they could communicate directly with them.

Regardless of the civilization, Agate has always been very important in various branches. Therefore, because of its different shapes and colors, the Agate is considered “The Sacred Astral Stone,” described as the fourth dimension and the world of desire, it is divided into various planes, ranging from the lowest to the highest. So, whatever exists in the material, imaginary and dreamlike plane, is expressed in this plane as an astral force.

According to the astral world, it is the essence of the physical orb, a subtle extension of its consciousness, palaces of light and misery. Within it, there are diverse beings of different levels (angels and demons) that embody the human feelings and thoughts, where the different astral planes feed from.

Because of that, agate stimulates and develops unknown aspects of our personality and allows us to become aware of inadvertent faculties. Our channels of perception towards other dimensions open to what is subjective and allow us to experience unimaginable sensations on the material plane. For this reason, it is considered a mystical stone that every person who needs creativity, such as writers, actors, painters, musicians or publicists, should consider having.
