Tuesday, 15 December 2015. A computer expert named Marc Dillon, of Finnish origin; has succeeded in creating a software that through the use of technology allows for the blind enjoy art, a miracle for those who for various reasons suffer from this limitation. The computer tool is named “Unseen Art” and from already famous artists are joining to support this initiative.
Technological advances have achieved cure diseases, substitute human beings with robots and make the distance not be an impediment to bring us closer to those we love. It has opened up job opportunities, has made people more efficient workers and has allowed many women to be the perfect housewives. Today the turn corresponds to the arts and to those thousands of people who for various reasons cannot observe a painting, its colors and forms; because unfortunately in their eyes there is only darkness.
Before this invention, blind people were only limited to explanations of others, so as to get an idea in their head of the image of the work. But it was impossible for them to substantiate their own opinion, based on what they themselves using other of their highly developed senses could perceive.
This reality has changed, because with this technological tool they can enjoy any work of art through three dimensions, like if they touch a face or object. The idea is that with their hands, blind persons examine the work that has been exactly reproduced, but to a format with length, width and depth, so that they can see it through their hands.
The creator of this technological tool explained that everything starts with the scanned reproduction of the work in very high resolution, so that the image retains up to the smallest details. Then, with the use of a computer program the flat image is converted into a three-dimensional object to which even can give it certain effects to simulate the visual effects of the painting.
Currently, work is in progress with the most famous and well-known works of art as the Mona Lisa, but the idea is that the new plastic artists get motivated to join this work; transforming their creations in objects by means of this technique, with the intention that their artistic work may be known by everybody, without any limitation.
The most altruistic surely will support this progress, with the purpose of that very soon may arise exhibitions combined in which is shown the original work next to the created in this new format. Also, it is intended to propose to the museums and exhibition halls the possibility in that little by little the works be reproduced with this three-dimensional effect. A blessing, right? Light And Art For everyone!
