Currently, no drug has been more involved in controversies than marihuana. Its legalization has been giving much to talk about globally. Many experts and organizations are strongly suggesting that legalization will be more favorable than prohibition ever has. Since its prohibition, the drug market has been responsible for bringing numerous negative effects on all mankind.
Many support the idea of legalization, but the debate is still very much open. For example, the Mexican government is still very much split on as regards this subject.
The reason why some don’t support legalization is because they believe that this will make the consumer rate increase exponentially, and eventually we will see more and more people being treated in rehabilitation centers. And, others don’t really see what the advantages of its decriminalization will bring.
If governments worldwide decide to legalize this drug, will it help reduce criminal organizations? Will it lower the drug demand? Will we have fewer consumers? The reality is that none knows.
One thing remains true in spite of all this, drug consumption has become such a problem globally that it requires our attention.
That’s one side of the spectrum, one the other side we have drugs such as tobacco and alcohol, being consumed openly that also create negative effects being consumed legally.
We also have to consider that it’s been scientifically proven that marihuana consumption or usage helps prevent certain diseases, like arthritis, insomnia, anorexia, cancer associated pain, and others.
Will marihuana be legalized any time soon? The answer is no. Unless, governments, medical institutions and families agree upon one answer, either keeping their old ways or choosing a new alternative, nothing will change.
This is definitely a controversial topic and much consideration should be given. If it is for medicinal purposes I agree but for other purposes I disagree.
