It is no secret to anyone that the Dutch royalty holds a great wealth, that is shown in all the garments they wear daily. Taking that into account, today we want to talk to you about the jewels of the Netherlands Royal House and all their elegance and glamor.

The representatives of the Dutch crown tend to wear stunning pieces of jewelry, some with several centuries of history that probably inspired other women, considered great divas of the golden age of cinema, who wore them at the big parties.

The Queen of the royal house loves pearls, brilliants and some precious stones. Her taste is similar Beatriz’s, her mother-in-law who never hesitated to open the Royal jewelry casket and lend her the best pieces of the Kingdom. Sometimes, she combines the historical royal gems with pieces by designers like Celedonio Lohidoy, Rodrigo Otazú or Tiffany’s.

This representative of the royalty has the best jeweler of a European royal house at your disposal, and thanks to him, she wears the best accessories when it comes to social events. For example, she chose the tiara called “diamond girdle” to attend the 75th birthday of Margaret of Denmark. The piece was created for Queen Juliana as a wedding gift and it contains large pink diamonds that belonged to her grandmother, Queen Enma. It was originally a necklace of 34 rose-cut diamonds worn by Queen Wilhelmina until the beginning of the 20th century.

Then it was transformed into a diadem of diamonds mounted on a platinum frame. This diadem has been worn by the daughters of Guillermina, Beatriz, Margarita and Cristina. Today, it is one of  Queen Máxima’s favorite pieces. Their chatons are very elegant and fashionable.

Normally, the elegance and precious stones are displayed by these ladies in crowns or tiaras, in this case we can mention the Tiara de Margaritas, a small diadem of diamonds that originally belonged to Queen Sofia, first wife of King Guillermo III of Holland. In 1966, five brooches of pearls and diamonds in the shape of a daisy were added to it, also belonging to Sofia. This has been worn by several queens and princesses, it was the one that Beatriz chose for her coronation, on April 30, 1980.

There is also the peacock tiara, one of the most famous jewels in the Netherlands. No member of the Royal Family of Holland had worn this tiara again for 30 years. Originally, it was a gold tiara with two bands of diamonds embedded with five floral ornaments, which were removed and transformed into a “bijoux” that can be worn as brooches, earrings or hoops.

Undoubtedly, there are many jewels in the Netherlands royal house, because they are ladies who are used to always looking glamorous and elegant on any occasion and their accessories give them the perfect touch.
