Today’s women worry a lot about their looks, some take care of it by attending a gym, others by doing outdoor exercises or performing various beauty treatments. For this reason, we want to talk about a very effective therapy that has become fashionable in the female world that is presotherapy, a technique currently used to eliminate cellulitis.

In the first place, we want to explain a little about what cellulitis is, the evil that terrifies most women. Its scientific name is oedematous superficial fibrosclerotic panniculitis (OFSB) and it is only an inflammation of the adipose tissue where fat residues accumulate, specifically in the hypodermis.

There is no specific cause for cellulitis, it has always been related to overweight, however there are thin women who have cellulite, so there is nothing that can be done to fight it, but you can  hide or prevent it through presotherapy, a cosmetic medicine treatment used in physiotherapy to control and reduce venous or lymphatic oedema.

The process of presotherapy involves applying air pressure in the areas of the body where that presents cellulitis, and this controlls exertion and a relaxation of the lymphatic system. It is done through the placement of boots, a sling and special sleeves for this technique, with air chambers that are connected to a compressor, which is responsible for exerting pressure alternately and upward in the body parts that need it, it is usually applied to the arms, legs, buttocks and abdomen.

The sessions of presotherapy against cellulitis have a duration of 30 to 45 minutes, during this time the boots or blankets are inflated and deflated consecutively, about 10 or 20 times, depending on the case. It goes from the soles of the feet to the nodes located in the groin. This method began to be used in the 60s of the 20th century in the United States. Initially it was only used for cardiovascular problems, and later French doctors began to implement it in lymphatic drainage.

Estela Roa, a patient of presotherapy says that since the beginning of the treatment she started to notice the changes: “the specialist recommended me to do twelve sessions, so far I’ve done five and I can see the different already, cellulitis has diminished. People who do the treatment should keep in mind that if they want to see results they must keep a healthy diet, I definitely recommend it”.

As recommended by the patient Estela, to have immediate results in the anti-cellulite pressure therapy, the ideal is to practice physical activities and eat healthy, that way the change will be immediate and you will be able to feel satisfied with your body and your physical appearance.
