One of the most beautiful lakes in the world is located in Guatemala, and it’s called Atitlan Lake. It has clear waters and is surrounded by three volcanoes: Atitlan, Toliman and San Pedro. Around the river bank there are indigenous communities and small golden sand beaches of calm water, known as The Crystalline, Golden or Panajachel. These are ideal for swimming and practicing water sports.

For adventure lovers, we have some suggestions: a 4×4 tour to visit Los Amates fall; flying an ultralight over the Pacific coast; bungee jumping from the Río Dulce Bridge in Izabal and then visiting San Felipe Castle, rapelling in La Rinconada Fall, located in San Miguel Dueñas, Sataquetépez; kayaking in Ayarza Lagoon; entering a cave and walking 8km underground to get to a hot waterfall.

The Pacific coast in Guatemala can give you a wonderful opportunity to watch whales, sea turtles, stingrays and dolphins. Pez Vela marine, in Quetzal port has tour companies that take people on yachts or boats to see these beautiful animals in their natural habitat; an unforgettable memory. If you’re lucky, you’ll see whales jumping out of the water and you might listen to them singing as well. They can travel alone or in small groups with their cubs.
